Solano County legalized home food popups. But 6 months later, chefs still can’t sell

Posted on

When Solano County approved a new California law that would legalize home-based kitchen operations in April, it seemed like Cheska Kistner’s plans to open a restaurant in her Benicia home would finally come to fruition. The measure, California’s AB 626, allows for what are known as microenterprise food businesses, which Alameda County also made inroads toward legalizing yesterday. But no Bay Area county has yet fully implemented the 2018 law, leaving entrepreneurs like Kistner in limbo.

Under AB 626, cooks can legally sell up to 30 meals a day or 60 per week from their homes when their counties opt in and they have received a permit; their annual gross sales are capped at $50,000. The law has only been implemented in one county so far, Riverside. In Alameda County, many home kitchen operations have proliferated during the pandemic without the option to get proper permitting, leading to the health

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s helping in finding an inmate who escaped from the Escambia County Jail.

Jeremy Daniel Pecotte, 28, of Pensacola, was arrested in April on suspicion of using a mini camera and a selfie stick to record at least one woman going to the bathroom at Lowe’s Home Improvement on Airport Boulevard.

Pecotte was last seen about 10:30 a.m. Friday working with an Escambia County Road Crew in the 20 block of Bauer Road. He was wearing black boots and blue inmate scrubs with white lettering reading “ECRP,” according to an ECSO social media post.

Anyone with any information about Pecotte’s whereabouts has been asked to call 911 immediately.

Pecotte was arrested April 29, charged with voyeurism and booked into the

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office wants to rebuild garden for victims of crime following fire

Posted on

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. – A garden dedicated to the innocent victims of violent crimes more than two decades ago went up in flames this week.

On Wednesday, firefighters responded to Courage Garden, located behind the Jefferson County Court, around 7:30 p.m. Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Shrader says the fire is being investigated as arson.

Courage Garden was built 25 years ago after Victim Outreach, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people impacted by trauma, asked the county for land to create a memorial for victims.

In 1995, the same year Courage Garden was created, a gazebo was built by community members and funded by several law enforcement agencies in honor of Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Timothy Michael Mossbrucker. He was shot to death while responding to a shooting at a grocery store on April 28, 1995. Sgt. Mossbrucker was the first officer to arrive on the scene.

Washington state garden offers useful inspiration for Sonoma County front yards

For Sandra, a “hands-on” person, it was tough to stay out of the way as a contractor and workmen gutted and completely renovated the 1950s house she and her husband, Howard, had just bought in Walla Walla, Washington.

New to the area, Sandra was keen to get to know the neighborhood. So while the men upgraded her new home to a more modern aesthetic and condition, she turned to the front garden. Each day, from a rental house a few blocks away, Sandra would come over and labor in the garden in an effort to make progress on the house and to begin to meet her neighbors.

The garden was not a garden when she started. Her first efforts were directed at a steep bank along the sidewalk, a discouraging mass of rocks knit together by a dense mat of Bermuda grass. She progressed incrementally, each day removing a few

Days before Rose Garden ceremony, Mike Pence met with maskless Republicans in Cobb County

Actually, you shouldn’t.

Perdue had made the same claim the previous day in a national radio interview. This weekend, the Georgia Republican Party picked up the accusation in a flyer apparently aimed at suburban women in metro Atlanta.

“Outrageously false,” ruled the Washington Post in a fact-check published this morning. Perdue and other Republicans are basing their claim on an account of the 2017 race for the Sixth District congressional seat that the CPUSA posted on its Facebook page:

“The Communist Party did not endorse him,” said Roberta Wood, a CPUSA board member. “It does not endorse candidates of other political parties.” She added, “Posting an article on Facebook does not mean it is an endorsement.”

The newspaper gave him Four Pinocchios:

“At this point, labeling a Democrat a “communist” is almost worthy of parody. But it’s especially smarmy when the “endorsement” he claims is based on a three-year-old
