American brasserie Kitchen plans November opening at Alton Town Center

A November debut is planned for the American brasserie, which is owned by Tiger Woods’ former personal chef Matthew Byrne and his wife, Aliza.

PALM BEACH GARDENS — Seven years after opening their popular American brasserie Kitchen in West Palm Beach, Chef Matthew Byrne and his wife, Aliza, are preparing to debut the sequel. 

The West Palm Beach residents will unveil their second Kitchen restaurant early next month at Alton Town Center in Palm Beach Gardens.

The eatery, which will seat 150 with ample outdoor space and a private room, joins a growing list of new restaurants at the 360,203-square-foot retail complex on Donald Ross Road.

New upscale Stone Oak Mexican restaurant Cuishe Cocina Mexicana opening Tuesday in San Antonio from Toro Kitchen + Bar team

At special events and festivals around San Antonio the last few years, co-owner Gerardo De Anda of the popular Spanish restaurant Toro Kitchen + Bar has made no secret that the food of Mexico would be his next quest.

Tuesday, Oct. 6, that quest becomes a reality with the opening of Cuishe Cocina Mexicana in Stone Oak, just a few doors down from where he opened the first Toro in 2017. A second location of Cuishe is coming Nov. 3 in St. Paul Square near downtown, close to the second location of Toro, according to Cuishe’s Facebook page.

Named for an agave plant used to make mezcal, Cuishe (pronounced KWEE-sheh) will feature more than 150 bottles of spirits distilled from agave, including tequila, mezcal, sotol, raicilla and bacanora, served straight up or mixed in a wide variety of cocktails served not just in glasses, but also in clay cups, gourds

Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen opening near Opry Mills in October

Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen is bringing the Southern cook’s well-known Southern Fried Chicken and Ooey Gooey Butter Cake to Opry Mills this month.

The 406-seat family style restaurant is slated to open Oct. 26 adjacent to the Opry Mills Mall, and intends to hire more than 200 employees. It will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.

The menu includes “classic dishes” based on recipes from Deen and her family, according to a news release.

“The dishes that are passed around the tables at Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen are the foods my grandmother Paul taught me how to cook at her own kitchen table,” Deen said in a statement. “It means so much to be able to share those traditions and recipes

Discount home improvement store opening in Pensacola on West Navy

Pensacola will soon be the second home of a popular Milton home improvement store. 

Bob Hanley is planning a soft opening Saturday for HBM, his discounted home improvement retail store. HBM will open at 3840 W. Navy Blvd inside of an approximate 5,000 square-foot space.

Hanley said he’s already filling the building from wall to wall with name brand pressure washers, blowers, grills, appliances and more.
