2020 Cost to Remodel a Bathroom

How much does it cost to remodel a bathroom?

The bathroom is arguably the most frequently used room in the home. So, if it’s out-of-date, not functioning properly or beginning to show signs of where, it may be time to remodel.

There are a wide range of costs associated with remodeling a bathroom, including size, the type of materials, its current condition, and the location. Homeonwers spend on average between $15,000 and $25,000 in their bathroom renovation. For example, the average cost of a 100 square foot master bathroom with tile walls and flooring, new fixtures, double vanity, and walk in shower with separate tub is around $20,000.

Energy Tax Credit: Which Home Improvements Qualify?

Posted on

Updated for Tax Year 2019

OVERVIEW

Taxpayers who upgrade their homes to make use of renewable energy may be eligible for a tax credit to offset some of the costs. Through the 2019 tax year, the federal government offers the Nonbusiness Energy Property Credit. The renewable energy tax credits are good through 2019 and then are reduced each year through the end of 2021. Claim the credits by filing Form 5695 with your tax return.

Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit

Equipment that qualifies for the Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit includes solar, wind, geothermal and fuel-cell technology:

  • Solar panels, or photovoltaics, for generating electricity.  The electricity must be used in the home.
  • Solar-powered water heaters.  The water heated by the system must be used inside the home, and at least half of the home’s water-heating capacity must be solar. (Solar heaters for swimming pools and hot tubs do not qualify.)

Tim Allen’s ‘Last Man Standing’ Referenced ‘Home Improvement’ on Season 7

Posted on

It’s tool time on Last Man Standing!

Long before Tim Allen was Mike Baxter, he was Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor on Home Improvement. The latter ran from 1991-1999, and followed Tim Taylor, a TV host raising three boys with his loving wife. Last Man Standing has a similar formula, except Tim’s Mike Baxter has three daughters with his wife Vanessa (Nancy Travis), and owns his own sporting goods store.

The current show, which returned for its seventh season on Fox this year, has packed in a few nods to the ’90s series in the past, including a guest appearance from Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who played Tim’s on-screen son in Home Improvement. Now, the series is sneaking in some references once again, and eagle-eyed fans cannot get enough of it.

After middle daughter Mandy (Molly McCook) announced that she wanted to forgo fashion after facing rejection, Mike tried
