Are you selling your home soon? To get the best price, take some time right now to get it ready. While you may need to tackle some basic repair issues first, these simpler cosmetic improvements can help polish your home and set the tone for a quicker sale.

Remember to put yourself in the shoes of a potential buyer before your house is listed for sale. Look critically at your space to see what might be updated, cleared out, or spruced up. Many times, there are simple fixes that will make all the difference.

Start with these six tips.

Put Clutter in Storage

If you have a minimal decorating style and pared-down possessions, then skip this tip and go on to number 2. For the rest of us, however, it bears repeating that hiding your home’s good features behind piles of clutter will only make it harder for the buyer

The Community House – The Community House

The Community House – The Community House

As you now know, today, March 23, 2020, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued an executive order for people to “shelter at home” with the exception of critical, emergency, essential personnel. Consistent with her directive, and in line with our own safety and health standards and protocols, The Community House has temporarily CLOSED its building to the public and will now be operating minimally, remotely. In some cases, we will be open virtually. It is the first time in the history of this 97-year old nonprofit, charitable organization that The Community House building itself is closed for such an extended period of time. Given the uncertainty, and out of an abundance of extraordinary caution, we have made the difficult decision to cancel BOTH the Spring and Summer 2020 Classes/Programs at

This recipe is deceivingly simple but so flavourful.

I’ve written before about the special place my heart holds for Tunisia, my dear friend Synda, and our shared love of cooking. This is a recipe she taught me, many years ago, a Tunisian classic called Ommek Houria. It’s kind of like a pesto, maybe more of a spread… some people even call it carrot caviar! You can learn from the pro and watch Synda preparing it on her beautiful online Tunisian cooking show here! I love this recipe because the ingredients are fairly commonplace, but the flavour combination is new and exciting.

A couple months ago, I volunteered to cook a benefit dinner to raise funds for the Madagascar School Project, and for the appetizers, I made little crostini (baguette toasts) with Ommek Houria, and also Slata Mechouia (a Tunisian dish of gilled pepper, onion, garlic, tomatoes all mashed up with

Interior Designer Cost

Hiring an interior designer can be a serious investment, but many homeowners feel that the interior designer cost is well worth a beautiful and tastefully-decorated home. Sadly, the cost to hire an interior designer varies based on numerous factors (discussed later). However, looking at more than 1,500 interior design projects across the country, the average interior design cost is $4,776, with most homeowners paying somewhere between $3,407 and $5,143.

The Land You’re Standing On

This parkland has seen many changes over time. A landscape shaped by glaciers more than 10,000 years ago, the area was once an expanse of marshland used as a seasonal camp by Minnesota’s first people, the Dakota and the Ojibwe. In the late 1800s, the site held an armory and parade grounds. In the early 1900s, formal gardens and a series of sports fields were established by the Park Board. When the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden opened in 1988, it was one of the first major public/private urban sculpture parks of its kind in the United States.

The Nature of Art

The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is home to more than 40 outdoor sculptures. Generations of artists from 10 different countries around the world created these artworks. Many of the works are site-specific and made especially for this public park—from the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry centerpiece to

The places you forget to clean, plus tips and tricks to clean your bathroom more quickly and effectively.

You clean surfaces at room temperature

Heating your tub, sink, and tiles just 10 degrees above normal air temperature can double the effectiveness of alkaline cleansers. Fill your tub or sink with the hottest water you can run from the tap and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing and cleaning bathroom areas.

You scrub your plastic shower curtains

Don’t waste any energy scrubbing a shower curtain liner when cleaning bathroom areas. Throw it into the washing machine with a couple of towels, a cup of vinegar, and run for about five minutes. Let the towels and curtain soak in the water for an hour before turning the machine back on to finish the cycle. Hang to dry. Make sure
