APEX, N.C. (WNCN) – An employee at the Lowe’s Home Improvement store located in Apex’s Beaver Creek Commons shopping center has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a company spokesperson.
“The well-being of our associates and customers is Lowe’s priority, and we have confirmed a COVID-19 case of a Lowe’s associate at our Apex store, located at 1101 Beaver Creek Commons Dr.,” the spokesperson told CBS 17.

The company official added that the worker “has been quarantined and is receiving care.” The employee last worked on Monday.
Lowe’s employees who worked closely with the associate over a period of time are now on paid leave, the official said.
Sarah Sewell’s husband has worked at the Lowe’s in Apex since last fall.
She says they found out on Thursday that one of his coworkers tested positive for COVID-19.
“Our concern was how do you know if he had any contact with that person? That’s scary. What they were telling employees is they reviewed tapes to see where this person was in the store, who they came into contact with,” Sewell said.
Sewell said her husband is still going to work, because he doesn’t want to let his team down. She says employees have worked hard to sanitize the store, and encourage customers to social distance.
However, Sewell is concerned — saying all the employees share the bathroom and break room.
“I would feel better as a wife and a mom if they just shut the store down and give the employees a week or two weeks home to self-quarantine,” she said.
Lowe’s said that the store is still open and has been cleaned.
“The store remains open and has been extensively cleaned per CDC guidelines,” the spokesperson said.
At least 2,093 people across the state have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the numbers available from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as of Friday morning. At least 19 people have died.
