Fire Destroys Jefferson County Gazebo, Burns Courage Garden

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)– Jefferson County authorities are investigating after a fire destroyed a 25-year-old gazebo on Wednesday night. The gazebo was located in the Courage Garden outside the Jefferson County Government Center.

Golden firefighters rushed to put out the fire about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday but the gazebo, benches and part of the garden were lost.

The gazebo was built for and dedicated in honor of fallen Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mossbrucker in 1995. It also honored crime victims and Jefferson County

Tuesday blaze destroys vacant house

Firefighters from Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District were on the scene within minutes of a dispatch of a vacant house engulfed in flames Tuesday morning at 77 Belfast Pike in Hillsboro. Emergency personnel had the fire knocked down around 10:30, with both northbound and southbound traffic blocked temporarily on SR 73 just south of the Johnson Street intersection. Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District Lt. Branden Jackman said the structure was unoccupied, and that mutual aid was rendered from both the Lynchburg Area Joint and Ambulance District and Marshall Township Fire Department. He said investigators considered the fire suspicious in nature and under investigation. Anyone with information should contact the Hillsboro Police Department at 937-393-3411.
