Big Freedom Tiny Homes

Posted on

When I set out to build the perfect tiny house I knew I had to maximize space where it is most important: kitchen and bathroom. Also, I had to create a living area that is actually comfortable. I achieved both. My base model is built on a 26′ trailer. I also have several variations available in a 28′ and 30’ models.

I use high-end finishes and details throughout: quartz/granite counter tops, quarry stone or tile backsplash, hard wood flooring, stainless appliances, top of the line on-demand propane hot water heater or electric 30 gallon tank water heater, all LED lighting, cedar-lined bathroom and much much more.

The bathroom is a spacious 5’x8′. It includes a 36″ shower, dual-flush toilet, 24″ vanity and washer+dryer hook-ups. A full size tub/shower is available in the 28′ and 30’ models as is a full length down stairs clothing closet.

The kitchen is equipped with

Tiny Timber – Rustic homes for modern living

Posted on

Tiny Timber, LLC, was founded in 2016 by Buzz Dolph and began with his own personal vacation rental buildings. These small home plans were then further developed through many months of design work and strategy sessions with STREAM Collaborative, and with the sales support of Warren Real Estate as they worked together to bring new designs to market. The result was the sale and construction of nearly two dozen Tiny Timber homes, homes that featured advanced energy-saving systems and simple, small space designs that sold for between $185,000 and $300,000, including land. By these measures, Tiny Timber was a tremendous success.

Despite the popularity and early success, Dolph has decided to move away from the actual construction of the homes himself and will be shutting down Tiny Timber, LLC in the near future, after fulfilling all of his warranty obligations on homes already built.

Consequently, the “Cottages at Fall

Custom Tiny Houses for Sale in Washington

Posted on

As the popularity of the mini-mansion fades, more and more people are replacing them with houses a fraction of their size. At less than 500 square feet, a tiny house in Washington can take up less space than a two-car garage while providing owners with all of the luxuries of a larger home.

Why Are Tiny Homes in Washington a Popular Option?

There are numerous reasons the popularity of tiny homes in Washington is spiking. As rents and housing prices increase, many individuals find the idea of living in a cost-effective smaller home appealing.

Unlike regular homes, tiny houses are typically registered as either mobile homes or RVs, which makes them exempt from many of the regulations and taxes of standard homes. They are also more versatile than larger houses, built on wheels to allow them to move with the owner.

Whether you want to benefit from the lower costs

LSU Garden News: Those tiny moths you see are producing webworms that are killing your lawn | Home/Garden

Posted on

Across the state, lawns are in trouble.

Sod webworms are the main culprit this year, said LSU AgCenter Extension specialist Ron Strahan.

“The numbers are biblical,” Strahan said. “We have observed nearly every house on a single street with damage in the lawn.”

The first sign that your lawn might have a problem are small moths that are light brown to dark brown with striping on the wings. They fly around as you walk through the grass or around outdoor lights at night. These moths lay eggs on grass blades.

Larvae hatch a week or so later, maturing into adult moths in three to five weeks. There can be two or more generations each year.

Larvae are amber in color but become greener as they feed on the blades of grass at night, causing damage to the lawn.

Another sign of sod webworms are yellowing and browning patches of dead

How big a kitchen do you need in a tiny house?

Posted on

The Kitchoo packs it all into one unit only four feet wide, perfect for your quarantine suite.

One thing that I have never understood about the tiny house movement is the devotion to not-so-tiny kitchens. Melissa Breyer recently described the situation with an example:

Four burners, an oven, a large sink, and roomy refrigerator would make this a great kitchen for a family who likes to cook. Some people think that tiny homes should come with tiny appliances, but if a homeowner places a lot of value in the kitchen and they are cooking for a family of four, it makes perfect sense (to this food enthusiast, at least) to prioritize space for a really workable kitchen.

That’s one extreme. At the other, we have the Kitchoo, designed and engineered by Peter Locher in Switzerland. “The story begins in Paris in a small studio of 20 m2 [215
