The Oregon Vortex and location of the House of Mystery

The Famous Circular Area with its Unique Phenomena
Open to the public since 1930

The Oregon Vortex is a glimpse of
a strange world where the improbable is the commonplace
and everyday physical facts are reversed. It is an area of naturally occurring visual
and perceptual phenomena, which can be captured on film. No matter your
education or profession you will find a challenge to all your accepted
theories. Use the menu to the left to discover more.

News and Events

We are pleased to announce that we are able to offer private reservations to the general public!

Unfortunately walk up tours and visits are not possible at this time.

To reserve a tour please visit our Eventbright page.

This year has been one full of changes and unexpected events. It has been hard not seeing all of your smiling faces but it has become clear that we cannot operate as we used to. Up to 400 people from across the globe streaming through a shared space daily is both an irresponsible goal and an unlikely one. Both common sense and state opening restrictions say that we will not be able to provide tours in our previous format anytime soon, if ever.

It has been a difficult path to navigate these last few months trying to strike a balance between the minimum expenses of operation, our obligation to respect and protect the health of both our staff and the vulnerable in our community, our desire to share the Vortex with the public and your desire to see it. After reading the Phase 2 guidelines for reopening here in Oregon we have made some changes to our tour reservations.

As Oregon moves forward in its reopening, travel restrictions have been lifted and we are happy to be able to offer private reservations to the general public. Social distancing and Phase 2 rules mean that these tours will be limited to a maximum of 10 people and one family or traveling group*. Private reservations will include one hour in the Vortex area and thirty minutes in the gift shop with a guide. The lecture aspect of the guided tour is still available but not limited to that. Instead you are reserving an hour with a guide at the Vortex to explore and experience the area at your pace. If you desire to have more than an hour in the area it will be able to reserve consecutive slots, even setting aside an entire day. We are excited to see people again and hope that we will be able to create a successful path forward for our business in this new era. Thank you very much for supporting us in this chaotic time.

The rules and regulations are ever shifting and what we are able and allowed to offer is subject to rapid change. Thank you for your understanding.

We hope to see you soon!
